7 Reasons Why Kenyans Love Nyashinski

Why do birds sing in the morning, every day, the same way? Why do you continue to eat ice-cream when your teeth are aching? We may never know. Here’s another mystery I’ve been grappling with for a few months: what did we, as Kenyans, do to deserve the excellence of Nyashinski?
Kenyans love Nyashinski like crazy. Try to diss the guy and you will know what social media stones look like. You’ll be pelted with lots of them. The good thing is that the love is truly justified. Nyashinski is a great artiste and here are reasons why Kenyans truly love him.
Move outside Kenya. How many musicians in the world can sing and rap? Not just singing and rapping but singing and rapping very well. The only person that comes to mind is Drake. Luckily, Nyashinski has that sort of talent too. Today he releases a rap song, tomorrow he’s singing his heart out.
It’s rare to find a humble celebrity. It’s hard to stay humble when people are shouting “Look who it is” wherever you pass. But despite Nyashinski’s immense success, he has managed to embrace humility. Anyone who has seen any of the hundreds of interviews he has given or interacted with him in person knows that the Malaika hitmaker is as down to earth as they come
I still cannot get the lyric, “Hii remix ni supreme utadhani court” out of my mind. My ear hurts. Who knows a good ear doctor? Okay, those words were not dumped to our ears by Nyashinski but by one Femione Shiko in the Tippy Toe remix. You’ll never hear such bullshit lyrics in a Nyashinski. Mr. Nyash sings and raps sense – every day, every time. It’s sad that other Kenyan artistes have refused to take notes.
A section of Nyashinski’s current fanbase is too young to remember him from his Kleptomaniax days. They think he’s a new guy that showed up last year. But the more seasoned folk who saw Mussolini in World War 2 like me know that Nyashinski was just as fire back in the day as he is now. He conquered, he took a break, he came back and conquered again.
Any artiste will tell you that releasing hit after hit is close to impossible. One of your songs will definitely flop. It looks like this doesn’t apply to Nyashinski. Someone needs to investigate whether he’s an extraterrestrial being.
