Residents of a village in Nakuru East Sub-County are still reeling from shock after they recently discovered that a couple in their locale has developed a habit of engaging in the ‘act of the rod’ in the presence of their children, upon returning home from drinking sprees. On this material night, the couple, who live in a single room, is reported to have returned from a drinking binge at night, entered the house where their three children had retired to bed, and without a care in the world began to noisily make love. It took the intervention of an embarrassed and enraged neighbour to stop them by shouting from her house. The neighbour, it is reported, yelled at the top of her lungs from her house, urging the couple to stop the shameful act. She loudly wondered why they were embarrassing themselves and subjecting their children to such trauma, seeing as she could hear all their bedroom activities The shameful act became the talk of the estate the following day, with neighbours calling for their expulsion The couple’s eldest child, a 14-year-old girl, laid bare their disgraceful acts, revealing that it had been going on for a while, every time they came home drunk “Whenever they come from drinking, they argue and fight before engaging in the act. The noises they make as they ‘do bad manners’ keep us awake, and we are almost used to it,” said the girl, adding that she was surprised this was the first time neighbours heard the noises. After the shocking details surfaced, the incident has stuck on the lips of area residents, with more scandalous details about the couple’s conduct emerging. Strangely, the woman is alleged to be of easy virtue. She is reportedly available ‘on demand’ to every Tom, Dick and Harry who buys her a drink. Drunk husband Even when she is in the company of her husband, the woman never restrains herself from accepting free drinks offered to her by other suitors. Her husband on the other hand is said to care less about those who make advances as his wife. “The man never seems to care when fellow drunks take his wife’s hand, leading her to the dance floor for a jig. You only need to buy him a drink and he will not mind you dancing with his wife The patron further reveals that many a time, men have danced with the woman and ducked with her into nearby bushes for a ‘quickie’ without her drunk husband, present in the den, being any the wiser. This writer spoke to the couple’s next door neighbour who broke the news and she said: “We have always complained to the landlord about the pair’s irresponsible behaviour, but he never takes action against them. Instead, he calls us busybodies who should learn to mind our own business.” According to her, the landlord has always maintained that the matter is too trivial for him to read the offending couple the riot act.
