Controversial Gatundu South MP has rubbished claims that Mt Kenya region will not back a Deputy President William Ruto presidency come 2022. This comes after a section of leaders from Central insisted that Ruto is not guaranteed of their support to clinch the presidency and that he has to work harder to get Mt Kenya votes. The MP promised that the region will vote for the DP with a 100 per cent turn out and they will use door-to-door campaigns to ensure that Ruto becomes president. “I want to refute claims by some people that we will not support Deputy President William Ruto. As Kikuyu community, we have decided that our presidential candidate will be Ruto, no matter what, and anyone who will opposes this will be disowned,” declared Kuria. “We chose Ruto, not because he is a Kalenjin, but because he is a trusted leader who will transform the country. Nobody will get as many votes as the deputy president come 2022,” Kuria added. The Gatundu legislator reiterated that Ruto already has a pass to State House and likened Mt Kenya support to a cheque that is already signed and ready for banking.  “I want to assure my friend William Ruto that we will campaign for him overwhelmingly as a way of thanking him for supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta. Our support for him is like a cheque that we have already written and signed, ready for banking,” said Kuria. He urged the Opposition leaders to join hands with the government to develop the country and improve the lives of Kenyans instead of holding the country at ransom with politics.
