Matiang’i dismisses reports 2-6-6-3 was hanging by a thread

Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi has dismissed reports that the new education curriculum 2-6-6-3 was hanging in the balance. Speaking at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD), Matiang’i stated that the new system was on course and reports to the contrary were false. Matiang’i said that the implementation was going to be phased out and was not a one-time approach to kick out the 8-4-4 system He added that the programme was going to stretch out all through to 2027 when the 8-4-4 system will be phased out completely. The CS noted that the ministry had consulted widely and made adequate preparations to see to it that the programme was rolled out this year, 2018. He was flanked by PS Belio Kipsang and Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sossion and other education stakeholders.
