Lyon offer Liverpool fresh hope in £61.5m Fekir pursuit

Liverpool have been offered hope in their pursuit of Nabil Fekir by Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas.
Fekir was close to becoming Liverpool’s third signing of the summer, with Naby Keita and Fabinho already Anfield-bound.
But Lyon called off negotiations earlier this month, with mystery shrouding a possible problem with the player’s medical.
Real Madrid have since been linked, but Aulas insists Liverpool’s chances are not necessarily nil.
“Nothing is ever completely over in the footballing world,” he told RT France. “Personally, I am no longer in discussions with Liverpool.
“At the moment, we are waiting for France and Nabil to have a fantastic World Cup.
“If Nabil was to start in the World Cup final, I am thinking about Nabil, about his future, about his family, because I especially like his dad and the entire environment.
“He has an agent in Jean-Pierre Bernes of the highest quality. You should not worry, I think that Nabil’s career is going to be even greater if he stays at Lyon, but it will not be me who decides.”
Aulas added in the same interview that he would want around £61.5million for the France international.
