Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has declared he would challenge NASA co-principal Musalia Mudavdi for the presidency in 2022. Wamalwa spoke a week after he was chased by itrate locals from a Maragoli cultural event in Vihiga County where Mudavadi rescued him. Mudavadi is expected to vie for the presidency in 2022 on a NASA ticket should he beat Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetang'ula Water Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has sustained his attacks on National Super Alliance (NASA) co-principal Musalia Mudavadi a week after he was disgracefully kicked out from a Maragoli cultural event in Vihiga County. On Tuesday, December 26, 2017, the CS found himself in trouble when he showed up in Vihiga for the annual cultural event when locals turned rowdy forcing Mudavadi to come to his rescue. Efforts by Mudavadi to calm the irate locals fell on deaf ears as the charged crowd chanted anti-Jubilee slogans forcing him to walk the CS to his car for calm to be restored. Later, Wamalwa accused Mudavadi of failing to contain his supporters claiming it was an elaborate plan by the NASA luminary to embarass him. Mudavadi has denied ever hiring goons to chase away the former leader of the defunct New Ford Kenya party. But on Monday, January 1, Wamalwa rubbished the ANC leader who was declared the official Luhya spokesperson in the run-up to the 2017 elections wondering what influence he has over the Luhya people. Wamalwa declared that he would challenge Mudavadi for the presidency in the 2022 elections but did not state on which party he would seek the highest seat as Jubilee Party already has Deputy President William Ruto as its preferred candidate. Wamalwa was speaking during a football tournament at St Cecilia Misikhu Girls High School in Bungoma county. Mudavadi, the Amani National Congress (ANC) leader is expected to presidential ticket with Kalonzo Musyoka and Moses Wetang'ula for the 2022 race.
